Wednesday 29th October - walk ***** – Felixstowe Ferry – Brief sunrise then loads of rain!

Awhile ago Gillian Brown, a weather presenter on BBC’s Look East contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I was interested in doing a short film with her to celebrate 10 years of Weather watchers which is where I send my weather pics in most days, it has become a bit of an obsession and I have sent in 10,000 photo’s so far, I rarely leave home without my camera so with Mag and I now happy to stay here in Suffolk after several brilliant trips away in our little campervan. So we flask made and picnic packed and if I am not sailing we are off for a walk somewhere nice and quiet which gives me many opportunities to take weather pics, I have gone off the point, I am not keen on being in front of the camera but I said yes which has meant a few sleepless nights!!! Finally the day for the film shoot arrived and we agreed to meet up with Gillian at the clifftop car park at 10, a rather stressful morning. Mag came for moral support, after all she has the most photographed back inn Suffolk and Gillian soon put us at ease, then James the ITV photographer arrived who was also great! We then drove the short distance to Felixstowe Ferry one of my favourite spots for taking weather pics with the skies grey but still dry thankfully! We parked behind the Martello tower and walked over to the River Deben, James the camera man knows the area well as he only lives a few miles away! We decided to get the worst bit over with first the interview bit where Gillian ask me question so we find a bench near the sailing club, it was hard for me and I did have a few stuttering moment when my head went completely blank but they everyone got me through it so I hope they can edit so I don’t look like a complete wally! The speaking part now finished we had such fun filming me walking to the bench with Gillian, it was raining nicely now, then we walked around the the boatyard where I had to take loads of pics while being filmed, James was really good and had loads of great ideas while Mag had a great time with Gillian sheltering in a boat shed. The funniest bit was when our lovely neighbour came ashore in his tender and I had to help him carry his boat up the beach! We were now soaked and cold which did not do my cold any favours but at least didn’t cough once! We had been out nearly two hours by the time we said our goodbyes, we headed for home to warm up with a cuppa and did not stop eating, we did not go out again as the rain did not stop! It will be a couple of weeks before he film is posted on Instagram and then it will be on Look East, so that’s my 15 minutes of fame!!!!
